Tom Nzirambi

Tom Nzirambi is NOTDEC Uganda's Estates Manager.  However, he iwas also brother of NOTDEC's founder Dorothy Nzirambi, and of NOTDEC's first Co-ordinator (Director) Milly Nzirambi.  Tom joined NOTDEC in February 2008, since when he has undertaken various roles.  As a lay reader, he served first as Chaplain, followed by a period as NOTDEC Uganda's Treasurer during which time he was a key member of the management team focussed on finance and accounts.

As Estates Manager, Tom is currently  responsible for the running and maintenance of all NOTDEC facilities and equipment - everything from the buildings, the water storage/collection system, the vehicles, the children’s play areas (including the field), the laundry, the showers and toilet blocks and the access road. Not surprisingly, several different employees report to the Estates Manager.

Tom's role involves ensuring that planned maintenance runs like clockwork, but also responding to unforeseen problems by organizing running repairs where necessary.  As NOTDEC grows, the Estates Manager needs a good overview understanding of the everyday running of the site so that he can gradually suggest improvements to ensure that processes and facilities adapt to meet the changing needs.
